Grant Reminder – 2012 Roadmaps to Health Call for Proposals

A reminder of the 2012 Roadmaps to Health Call for Proposals. See details in a previous microsite post too, link here.

The Roadmaps to Health Community Grants will support two-year state and local efforts among policymakers, business, education, health care, public health and community organizations. Community Catalyst will manage the grant as part of the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI). Up to 20 coalitions will be awarded grants to create policy or system change to address the social and economic factors that impact the health of people in their community.

School Grants for Healthy Kids – Applications Due May 5th

Action for Healthy Kids and it’s partners are offering grants opportunities to individual schools ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Over 500 schools will be awarded “School Grants for Healthy Kids” to develop and manage nutrition programs around school breakfast, competitive foods, summer meals, access to healthy food and nutrition education. More information on the grant on the Action for Healthy Kids website.

Also, important school criteria, informational session dates, and deadlines included below:

  • Criteria for school applicants: Schools must participate in the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program; and must have a free/reduced priced meal eligibility greater than 50% to be eligible.  Priority selection will be given to schools with student enrollment greater than 500 students.  Grants are available in select states as listed below.
  • Informational Webinar Dates: Tuesdays, March 20th and 27th, both at  3:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST
  • Online Application Deadline: March 5, 2012

Apply for Mini-Grants: CDPH’s Safe and Active Communities Branch

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Safe and Active Communities Branch (SACB) is pleased to offer mini-grants for local implementation of the newly released “It’s Up to Us” pedestrian safety education campaign. Using California Kids’ Plates funding, CDPH is offering qualified organizations the opportunity to request up to $4,999.99 for youth-focused educational activities. Timeline outlined in Request for Mini-Grant Application. First deadline is March 16, 2012.

Apply for 2012-2013 Transportation Planning Grants with Caltrans

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Planning Grant funds are available for planning projects that improve mobility and lead to the planning, programming, and implementation of transportation improvement projects. Details and Grant Application Guide, here.

Applications are due via email by 5:00pm on Monday, April 2, 2012.

Urban Greening for Sustainable Communities Grants Available

Project Grant deadline June 17, Planning Grant deadline July 1

Urban Greening for Sustainable Communities, a program administered by the California Natural Resources Agency on behalf of the Strategic Growth Council, has released a formal grants Solicitation Notice. As the second of three funding cycles, Urban Greening for Sustainable Communities has made $20 million available for both project and planning grants (deadlines June 17th and July 1st respectively). Each type of grant has a separate application process and deadline, so be sure to download the official Solicitation Notice and visit the website. Read more of this post

$42M Available for CA SRTS Funds – Application Deadline 07/15/11

Spread the Word: Funds are now available for Federal Safe Routes to School projects!

Applications can be for funding programs for reducing injuries and fatalities through capital (engineering) projects that improve safety for children in grades K-8 who walk or bicycle to school and through non-infrastructure projects that incorporate education, encouragement, and enforcement activities to increase the numbers of children walking and bicycling to school. Evaluation is a key component of the program and is required for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. The deadline for applications is Thursday July 15, 2011.

Call for Applications for Fall 2011 Activities Mini-Grants

National Center for Safe Routes to School: Applications Due 5/18

Now in its fourth award cycle, the National Center for Safe Routes to School has announced that they are accepting applications for 25 mini-grants of $1,000 each that will be used for fall 2011 projects. Each mini-grant will support the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) goal: enabling and encouraging children to safely walk and bicycle to school. Nationwide SRTS programs are implemented by parents, students, schools, community leaders, and local, state, and tribal governments to further drive the SRTS mission.
